Boardwalk Heights In Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz - Monterey Bay, California

Welcome to “Boardwalk Heights” in Santa Cruz! The Beach Hill area is the oldest neighborhood in Santa Cruz. Located across from the historic Cliff Crest Inn (built in 1887) – this neighborhood was once called “Cottage-City” in the early 1900’s, and is truly THE HEART of Santa Cruz!

From “Boardwalk Heights”, you can walk two flat blocks to Main Beach – one of the most popular family beaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here, is where the historic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is located, and is the oldest amusement beach theme park in California. The Giant Dipper – named a National Historic Landmark in 1987, was awarded a “Golden Ticket Award”  as one of the Top 25 Wood Coasters in the world. Beginning in mid-June and lasting through the Summer, free Friday night concerts  are held at the Boardwalk – and the music can be heard throughout the nearby neighborhood. A fun and festive way to kick off your weekend – pack a picnic and relax at the beach while listening to live music. Take-in the colorful amusement park that is constantly in motion with lights and activity while gazing at the spectacular Monterey Bay Coastline – truly a long lasting and memorable impression!

“Boardwalk Heights” is a luxurious 2 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms town-home located in small upscale complex, just a short walk away from the Municipal Wharf where you can enjoy fresh local seafood, shop for souvenirs, or just take in the sights and sounds of barking sea lions and diving pelicans!. Just a few blocks away is Cowell's Beach - one of the best surf spots in Northern California. A pleasant stroll out the front door, and down the adjacent San Lorenzo river path, will take you to downtown Santa Cruz – where eclectic boutiques and personalities meet a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and happening nightlife.

“Boardwalk Heights” has just recently undergone a complete interior renovation and features two large updated bedrooms, nicely furnished upscale bathrooms, an open kitchen and dining room (great room), with adjacent living room with fireplace and wall-mounted flat panel TV. Granite countertops and soaring ceilings meet high-end appliances and an impressive chef’s kitchen – well equipped for a fabulous home cooked meal with fresh seafood purchased from the nearby Wharf or Santa Cruz Small Yacht Harbor. The “Boardwalk Heights” is well-suited for a family of 4 to 6, for two couples traveling together, and in consideration of a longer term corporate housing type-arrangement. There are two off-street parking spots that come with your reservation (including single car garage), full laundry facilities, upstairs balcony with patio seating, and attractive interior courtyard space.

Bike rentals are nearby and trails abound to take you in every direction alongside the water’s edge, or up into the mountains. You can rent a beach cruiser and visit the nearby Surfing Museum on West Cliff, a paved path that winds for miles along the ocean, and find out why local residents have consistently voted it the Best Outdoor Promenade, Best Bike Ride, Best Jogging Trail and Best Roller Blading Ride in Santa Cruz.

Ride your cruiser to Natural Bridges State Park. Here, view thousands of butterflies in fragrant eucalyptus trees. Continue on your ride to part of UC Santa Cruz’s campus  and visit the Seymour Marine Discovery Center and its 87 foot blue whale skeleton.

Play a round of golf at well-renowned Pasatiempo Golf Course – voted #11 by Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” (just a 5 minute drive away!). Neighboring Capitola is just to the South, and the Monterey Peninsula is less than an hour’s drive away. Catch a ride on the Roaring Camp steam engine that leaves daily from the Boardwalk and travels up through the redwoods for an incredible family-friendly scenic tour. Walk down to the Museum of Natural History, and sit on the deck of Aldo’s Harbor Restaurant for dinner as you watch the boats drift in and out of the Harbor. Endless exploration and relaxation opportunities exist here, and we welcome you and your family to experience the heart of Santa Cruz at the “Boardwalk Heights”!
